The University and State Library of Tyrol is the largest library in western Austria and serves more than 40,000 registered users.

The library was founded in 1700. Its collections comprise of around 3.5 million volumes of books, more than 8,000 printed and 20,000 electronic journals. Highlights of the collection are manuscripts from the middle-ages and works from Tyrol originating from within its historical borders.

Today the library is involved in a number of national and international consortia and projects.
