EOD network held the second technical meeting from 29 September to 1 October 2010 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Libraries exchanged experiences with EOD e-books after delivering the order to the customer and the matters of long-term preservation. Readers may count on even more user-friendly service – the demo version of a general search engine as starting point for all catalogues of libraries participating in EOD was presented.

The network libraries presented their repositories and the workflows dealing with EOD e-books after delivering the order to the customers. Severe differences between practices and possibilities of libraries became evident. A common concern was the technical infrastructure that needs to be updated in order to preserve the digitised content safely on long-term basis.

The libraries also discussed new features in the EOD order management system, Print on Demand service, opportunities of the social web, dissemination activities and other matters. The demo version of a general search engine was also presented; it will enable to search the old books available for digitisation within one search engine instead of going through all the catalogues of participating libraries for requesting the EOD e-book. The search engine will be published soon on the EOD website http://books2ebooks.eu.
