The eBooks on Demand network received an international library award

On July 1st the American Library Association (ALA) Presidential Citation for Innovative International Library Projects was presented to the eBooks on Demand (EOD) Network.

The Citation was given by ALA President Maureen Sullivan at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago. It was received by Silvia Gstrein, the coordinator of the EOD network (University of Innsbruck Library) and Guy Cobolet, a network member (Academic Health Library in Paris). – see on the attached photos

Silvia Gstrein commented: “I was very proud to receive the award on behalf of the EOD network and happy to draw the attention to the European libraries with it”.

She continued: “More than 30 EOD network libraries provide access to European heritage through the digitisation on demand service for users all over the world. This award reaffirms the libraries in their effort to continue and extend the service in the future”.

The EOD Library Network was nominated for the ALA award by a network member, Alenka Kavčič-Čolić from the National and University Library in Slovenia. Among other things, the nomination letter drew attention to the EOD network enlargement, EOD search engine (http://search.books2ebooks.eu) and to the fact, that the digitised books are made available to the public through the repositories of the participating libraries.
