eBooks on Demand: The offer at a glance

ORDERING THE DIGITAL COPY

  1. Digital copies are made of books whose record in the online catalogue ESTER and in the digitized slip catalogue EMIL includes the button EOD I wish to order a digital copy. Upon clicking on it, the order form will open for you. If you wish to order a digital copy of a book that has no record in ESTER yet, send your inquiry to eod@ut.ee
  2. Register as a user of the EOD service by filling out all the fields in the order form (the fields marked with* are mandatory). Later you can log in to the order form with your user account.
  3. Get acquainted with the Terms and Conditions of Making Digital Copies. To receive a digital copy, you are to agree with these Terms and Conditions.
  4. After submitting the order, you will receive a notice to your e-mail address you specified in the order form that your order has been received; you will also receive the user account (user number and password), which is necessary for further transactions. In the ordering environment, you can specify the method of delivery of the digital copy (over the Internet or on a medium (CD-ROM or DVD)) and track the status of your order.
  5. Before making the digital copy, the Library will check the validity of copyrights of the author and distributor of the book. The Library will also check whether the book is available for copying and whether its physical condition allows the copying. The Library has the right to decline to make the copy, if for the above or other reasons it is not possible to digitize the book; the Library will inform the Customer about it within three (3) working days.
  6. If the digitization of the book is possible, the Customer will receive a confirmation e-mail. The ordered book will be digitized in its entirety within ten (10) working days and optical character recognition (OCR) will be performed. The OCR will not always produce a high-quality result, particularly in the case of older books.
  7. The making of digital copies is a paid service. You can pay by credit card on the Internet, by bank transfer on the basis of an invoice, by transfer within the University of Tartu, or in cash at the Library Information Desk.
  8. When the payment has been received, the Library will let you know the Internet address where you can download the digital copy; the address is active for 60 calendar days. If you wish to receive the digital copy on a medium (CD-ROM or DVD), it will be sent by post to the address you specified in the order form (the postal expenses will be added to the invoice), or you can receive it personally at the Library Information Desk.
