Since the coding sessions in Lisbon in November 2011 have been very entertaining and also fruitful, we are again inviting EOD affiliated coders to join us in Olomouc for the second EOD HackDays.
Last time the small projects resulted in some very entertaining and useful prototypes, proofs of concept and even a script that has made it into the productive version of the EOD search engine: a javascript based solution to integrate queries to Europeana for already digitised content into vuFind.
Other projects from last time were e.g. scripts and tools to facilitate the authoring of Wikipedia articles about EOD digitised books and their authors, a sonification of the OCR output of an EOD digitised book (experimental-electro-freejazz?), an EOD search widget utilizing the vuFind OpenSearch API and a foray into the requirements and possibilities of creating an epub within the EOD workflow.
What could the projects be this time in Olomouc? Again every creative way to use/enhance/mashup EOD metadata and content with other datasources, social platforms, websites or programs is very welcome. Examples could be:
- more vuFind hacking
- creating linked open data from various sources (EOD seach engine, EOD Repox instance,…)
- refine/work on/finish last times projects
- evaluate different solutions for efficient ePub correction
- ...
