The Central Library SAS was founded in 1953. The operation immediately followed up on the Library of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Arts (1942).
Our collections have universal focus and consist of the basic works of all disciplines and languages. They include encyclopaedic literature, literature with interdisciplinary focus and selectively fiction and academic books and serials. It also provides access to a large number of databases and other online resources. The Central Library SAS builds a complete collection of works issued in the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Also selectively acquires works published by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
Central Library SAS manages the historical book funds of the Seminary Library of the Evangelistic seminary. Also, the library has a function of the Deposit library for the World Bank publications.
The Central Library of SAS is universal research library offering complex library and information services for the scientists and general public.
